Noema Gallery In Rome: Exclusive Interview With Aldo Sardoni

After the Milanese experience, Noema Gallery continues the exhibition season in Rome.

With “Anthology of the Portrait” ,by Aldo Sardoni, the Gallery wants to propose a journey, between lights and shadows, where the works of the artist are the  medium of reviving a universe full of art history into you can feel the influence of the great of the past.

In “Anthology of the portrait” will be presented some photographic series to which Sardoni has worked all long his career: “Noema” starring girls and boys who are portrayed at the entrance threshold of “understand, know, think” At the moment when they have just learned to read and write fluently; “Gold” is a trip to the Great Mine of Serbariu in Carbonia (active from 1937 to 1964) that tells how it looks today with stationary machinery and transformed into a mining museum; “Spoon River Anthology”, the richest work of Sardoni started in 2009 and still in progress, which is inspired by the homonymous anthology of the American poet Edgar Lee Masters; finally “Nihil” a work on time related to abandoned work environments, places where time has spread its patina changing its meaning and reminding us that everything is transformed.

Here the exclusive interview:

Q: Why is so important to look on the past in yours works?

A: About that I really love a Carlo levi’s quote “the future has an ancient heart” Because we are the result of our past, there is no artist who has not “copied” and taken inspiration from what already existed.

Q: What is the main theme of the exhibition, even if it is a series of different projects?

A: It is the portrait, the portrait of the true, of what is unexpected behind the veil of what you want to show the world.

Q: What is your artistic reference point ?

A: Mainly all the 600

Q: What fascinates you about Mediterranean religiosity?

BENTLEY ANNOUNCES RECORD FINANCIAL RESULTS FOR FIRST HALF OF 2022

Bentley Motors has announced encouraging financial results for the first six months of 2022, despite continued global economic uncertainty. While the outlook for the second half of the year remains challenging, the luxury British marque posted operating profits of €398 million, up 124 per cent on the same period last year. The half-yearly figures compare favourably to €389 million for the whole of 2021, the company’s previous record year.

Turnover increased from €1.324 billion during the first half of 2021 to €1.707 billion, while revenue per car climbed from €186,000, to €213,000, largely due to increased levels of personalisation. No luxury brand now sells more cars over €200,000 or €250,000 than Bentley. Return on sales also reached a record 23.3 per cent during the first six months of 2022, up from 13.4 per cent the previous year.

The best-selling Bentayga luxury SUV claimed 40 percent of total sales, with the latest Flying Spur sedan accounting for 27 per cent, and the Continental GT Grand Tourer recording 33 per cent.

The latest figures support Bentley’s forward-looking Beyond100 strategy, as the British brand reinvents its entire product range to embrace an electrified future, achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. This includes a €3 billion ten-year investment programme in future products and at the Pyms Lane factory in Crewe, where all Bentley models are built.

Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, commented: “Despite the continued global economic instability, it is promising to see Bentley is showing financial consistency as we reinvent the company in line with our Beyond100 strategy and form a basis to withstand further external shocks. In particular, a significant increase in demand and capitalisation of our Mulliner personalisation programme drove record return on sales, and continued global interest in the freshest model line in the luxury sector resulted in record high revenues. I would like to thank our hard-working colleagues for their continued efforts, as Bentley continues its ground-breaking transformation towards an electrified future, financial independence and to be the leader in sustainable luxury mobility.”

Jan-Henrik Lafrentz, Member of the Board for Finance & IT, at Bentley Motors, added: “Bentley continues to focus its efforts on building sustainable, long-term profitability. These results reflect a strong base pricing position, increased revenue through optionality and favourable foreign exchange rates. In parallel, we continue to maintain our lower cost base which is leading to a restructured business model that is delivering strong returns on our investment and sales.”

Future Super Star Chiara Noja Latest Name To Join Golf Saudi As Ambassador

Youngest European professional champion and rising star joins Golf Saudi as the organisation’s latest ambassador of 2022

German professional golfer and Europe’s youngest golfer to win a professional golf tour event, Chiara Noja, is the latest international ambassador to join Golf Saudi in 2022, following on from icons of the women’s game including Anna Nordqvist, Anne Van Dam and Carlota Ciganda. One of the in-form players of the past twelve months, German Chiara Noja will not only feature in Golf Saudi owned events going forward but more importantly will aid the organistion in its ongoing journey to bring the great game of golf to new audiences, particularly young girls and women, both globally and within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

News of Chiara’s ambassadorship was announced during this week’s Aramco Team Series event in Sotogrande, which is taking place from August 18-20, inclusively. This week’s field is packed full of global stars, with Chiara set to go up against household names including Nelly and Jessica Korda,  Anna Nordqvist, Carlota Ciganda and last year’s winner Alison Lee.

Part of Chiara’s new role with Golf Saudi will see her participate in on-course lessons and clinics with female amateurs of the game, in order to not only inspire those participating but more importantly encourage them to continue to play the sport. Chiara will draw upon her own experiences of rising through the amateur ranks and what it takes to become a professional as well as talking about how golf can reach new audiences and ensure its future development.

, Chiara Noja

“I have always enjoyed fantastic support from the whole team at Golf Saudi, not only via invites to their fantastic events but also in terms of providing advice too. By turning professional, I have been able to concurrently continue my academic career whilst still developing and improving as a golfer. I was lucky enough to make my debut on the Ladies European Tour at the end of 2020 and the subsequent twelve months gave me the confidence to turn professional in 2021,” commented Chiara Noja, who became a scratch golfer at the age of 11, before topping the European Rankings at both an Under-12 and Under-14 level, maintaining her upward trajectory ever since. “Golf Saudi is doing amazing things for the game whether it’s through their Mass Participation programs to drive youth engagement and their efforts to draw more people to our sport, particularly young girls and women. I am delighted to be confirmed as the latest Golf Saudi ambassador and to not only work alongside so many female superstars from women’s golf but to also support such an ambitious organisation as Golf Saudi. Having come to prominence at a similar time to Golf Saudi, I’d like to think that we’ll be able to share insights mutually and both do our bit in terms of growing the game both in Saudi Arabia and globally.”

It is fair to say that Chiara Noja has enjoyed a rather stellar first year as a debut professional. Making the step up at just 15 years old in October 2021, she paid back her early sponsor invites in full by not missing a single cut at the Dubai Moonlight Classic, Aramco Saudi Ladies International, and the Aramco Team Series – Jeddah. Just two months ago in June 2022, Chiara secured her maiden professional victory at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge, nine strokes ahead of Sára Kousková, and rose to the top of the LETAS Order of Merit.

Majed Al-Sorour, the CEO and Deputy Chairman of both Golf Saudi and the Saudi Golf Federation, commenting on her appointment said: “Chiara immediately impressed me when I saw her play last year in Saudi Arabia. She put in two impressive back-to-back performances at both of our tournaments. To make not only the cut in the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF and finish T40 but to do so with a shoulder injury, before following this up with a T26 in the Aramco Team Series belies her talent and bodes very well for both our new partnership but also for the future of women’s golf on the Ladies European Tour. Having also both lived and played in the Middle East, she has the potential to become a role model for all young girls here in the region and help us with our long-term aims at Golf Saudi of developing the women’s game in the Kingdom.”

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

“On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment, so blinded by desire, that they cannot foresee the pain and trouble that are bound to ensue; and equal blame belongs to those who fail in their duty through weakness of will, which is the same as saying through shrinking from toil and pain. These cases are perfectly simple and easy to distinguish. In a free hour, when our power of choice is untrammelled and when nothing prevents our being able to do what we like best, every pleasure is to be welcomed and every pain avoided. But in certain circumstances and owing to the claims of duty or the obligations of business it will frequently occur that pleasures have to be repudiated and annoyances accepted. The wise man therefore always holds in these matters to this principle of selection: he rejects pleasures to secure other greater pleasures, or else he endures pains to avoid worse pains.”
